Mar 26, 2022

ABERDEEN, SD –  A two-goal 3rd period for Aberdeen sealed a 3-1 win and a split of the Weekend Series.

Coming into Saturday night, the Bruins sat 2 points behind Aberdeen for 2nd Place in the Central Division with only three weeks left of the regular season. The Bruins would get on the board first, as Carson Riddle would get his 19th goal of the season 11:07 into the 1st period to give Austin the early 1-0 lead. That lead wouldn’t last, however, as while on the Power Play Will Gilson would get a shot past Klayton Knapp to tie the game up at 1-1.

The 2nd period would end the same way as the 1st did with the score tied at 1-1 until Cade Neilson would roof a back-handed shot over the glove of Knapp to give Aberdeen their first lead of the night and would l relinquish it from there. Late in the 3rd, Dominic Schimizzi would make it a 3-1 lead and that would prove the be the nail in the coffin for the Bruins. Knapp would save 22 of the 25 shots that he would face on the evening.

The  Bruins return home next Saturday night (April 2) to host the St. Cloud Norsemen for the final time during the regular season. Puck drop for that game is set for 7:05 PM.
