Teddy Bear Toss a Success as Bruins Sweep Bobcats

Dec 11, 2021

AUSTIN, MN – Ocean Wallace is sending the kids home happy this holiday season as his 2nd goal of the season brought a rainfall of teddy bears onto the ice.

The Bruins looked to complete the weekend sweep of the Bismarck Bobcats Saturday night inside Riverside Arena and did just that. 17:30 into the 1st period, the Bruins would find themselves on the Chad Thomas Thrivent Finacial Power Play and a minute and four seconds later, Ocean Wallace would sneak one past Bismarcks net-minder, Oskar Spinnars Nordin to give the Bruins the early 1-0 lead and bring a shower of stuffed animals on to the ice which was collected and will be donated to the Salvation Army of Austin to be distributed to a child in need this Holiday season!

Wallace’s goal would be the lone tally of the 1st period but Bismarck would answer back with two of their own in the 2nd period. Patrick Johnson would get his 8th of the season as he was able to beat Klayton Knapp to the near side to tie the game up at 1-1 at that point. Two minutes and twenty-one seconds later, however, Bismarck would take the lead thanks to Eddie Shepler’s 9th of the year to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead into the locker room after the 2nd period of play.

The Bruins would dig deep in the 3rd period and 44 seconds into the 3rd, Matys Brassard would find the loose puck behind Spinnars Nordin to tie the game up at 2-2. Jens Richards would seal the deal with his game-winner goal at 7:17 of the period to give the Bruins a 3-2 victory and complete the sweep of the Bobcats. Klayton Knapp would stand tall and get his 5th win of the season while stopping 27 of the 29 shots he would face.

Up next for the Bruins is the Minot Minotauros on the road for a battle of 1st place teams in the Central Division before heading on the Holiday Break. Game time for both Friday and Saturday nights game is set for 7:35 P.M. CST.
