Shootout Loss

The Austin Bruins kicked off their final road series of the Expansion season. The Bruins faced off against the Aberdeen Wings a team that Austin has bested 7 out of 8 games coming into the weekend. The Bruins finished off the home portion of the weekend last weekend finishing the season with a record of 14-12-3 at Riverside Arena. The opening frame from the Odde Ice Center was an excellent pace. The Wings capitalized first as CJ Pullar slid one past Keegan Asmundson. The Bruins took advantage of their first power play of the evening and John Kirby set up Cody Hotchkin which tied the game at two. The Wings added one more before the frame ended which gave the Wings a 2-1 lead after one period. The second period it was CJ Pullar again for the Wings giving Aberdeen a 3-1 lead after two periods. The Bruins got off to a magnificent start in the third period. Jadin Martin pumped one in and assists went to Dawson Kuhlmann and Alex Tesensky. The Bruins than tied the game at three, this time it was the Bruins captain Sam Olson on the power play, assists went to Trevor Waldoch and Charlie Adams. Tyler Poulsen got the Wings back ahead right away on the power play assists went to Brandon Platt and Geoff Ferguson. Austin’s very own John Kirby tied the game up at four with just over five minutes remaining in the third eventually sending the game to overtime. With either team able to score in the overtime the game went to a shootout. CJ Pullar ended the game in the shootout giving the Wings their second victory over the Bruins this season. The Bruins will play their final game against the Wings tomorrow night at the Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen South Dakota.
