AUSTIN, MN – The Minot Minotauros scored five goals in the 2nd period as they pulled away and eventually beat the Bruins 7-3 on Friday night at Riverside Arena. The Bruins alternated win-loss for the sixth game in a row.

Minot scored twice in the latter portion of the opening period. Michael Talbot buried a three-way passing play into an empty net at 14:00, his first of two goals on the night. Minot added a power play goal at 17:21 from Zach Bross to extend their lead to 2-0. Despite the Bruins holding an 11-4 shot advantage, 2-0 was the score after 20 minutes.

The ‘Tauros came on fast and furious in the 2nd, the tone set 24 seconds in when Tyler Jeanson snuck a shot from the goal line past Alex Schilling. After Talbot scored again at 1:38, Schilling was replaced by Jake Kucharski. Alex Adams and Jack Murphy each scored before the halfway point of the period, putting the Bruins in a 6-0 hole. After a timeout, Logan Haskins got the Bruins on the board, finishing a chaotic sequence around the Minot net at 10:10. Less than three minutes later, a power play goal by Justin Misiak made it 6-2, giving the Bruins a glimmer of hope. Unfortunately, a glimmer was all it would be as Murphy scored his second of the game at 15:02 to make it 7-2 after two periods.

The lone goal of the third period was scored by Travis Kothenbeutel with the man advantage at 5:55. Lucas Murray was the winning netminder, making 32 saves. The Bruins try to earn the split with a 7:05 faceoff on Saturday night at Riverside against the Minotauros.
