Apr 15, 2016

MINOT, ND – What was a highly competitive game through 53 minutes of hockey, turned into a penalty parade for the Bruins in a 3-1 game one loss to the Minotauros on Friday night at Maysa Arena.

The teams traded even strength goals in the first period as Jack Murphy opened the scoring at 14:53 before Paul O'Connor tied the game at 17:41. Murphy was sitting in the low slot when Grayson Gavin put the puck near his feet. Murphy's back-hand trickled off of Kris Carlson and in. On the tying goal, O'Connor and Justin Misiak worked below the Minot goal line and finally O'Connor jabbed the puck through Gunner Rivers to tie it up. Jade Miller added an assist.

After a scoreless middle frame, Zach Kennedy took a double minor for checking from behind that was shortly followed by a Travis Kothenbeutel slash. On the ensuing 5 on 3, Christian Mohs gave the 'Tauros a 2-1 lead at 14:18. Not long after, Jade Miller was called for kneeing, and Murphy netted his 2nd of the game, again with a two-man advantage. Kennedy, Dalton Gally, and Gilbert Gabor all received game ejections on the night. Carlson made 30 saves in the losing effort while Rivers stopped 22 to earn the win.
