Offensive Surge Continues as Bruins Down IceDogs

BLAINE,MN- Austin continued their early-season offensive dominance as the Bruins take down the Fairbanks IceDogs by the final of 5-2.

The Bruins and Fairbanks are familiar foes, as the two clubs have had a budding rivalry over the past few years dating back to to the 2014 Robertson Cup Finals when the IceDogs won the series 2-0. Tonight however was a different story. Carson Riddle would get things starting for the Bruins 4:09 into the 1st period, as the Holly, MI, native would score an unassisted goal to give Austin the early 1-0 lead. That lead would stay that way for 10 minutes as Jack Ring would score on the Power Play for the IceDogs to tie things up at 1-1. Jens Richards would score on the Power Play for the Bruins, his 3rd in two games, to give the Bruins the 2-1 lead. After that goal, the Bruins would not surrender the lead as Nick Catalano and Gavin Morrissy would tack on two more to give the Bruins a 4-1 lead going into the first intermission.

The lone tally in the 2nd period would go to Zachary Murray of Fairbanks as at the 15:03 mark of the would cut the lead in half. Nick Catalano would score his 2nd of the game in the 3rd period and the Bruins would seal the deal for the victory. Hudson Hodges would get the nod between the pipes for the Bruins as he would stop 15 of the 17 shots he faced.

Bruins (2-0-0) continue their week at the NAHL Showcase with a matinee tilt with the New Jersey Titans (2-2-0). Puck drop scheduled for 11:15 am CST live on HockeyTV
