Multi-Goal Performance from Brassard & Goffredo Leads to 4-1 Win

Sep 15, 2022

Blaine, MN – A multi-goal effort from Matys Brassard and Jimmy Goffredo helped lead the Bruins to a 4-1 victory over the Springfield Jr. Blues.

After picking up a win yesterday (9/14) over the Northeast Generals, the Bruins set their sights on the Springfield Jr. Blues. Austin wasted no time setting the tone early, as veteran forward Matys Brassard scored his second of the season just 3:29 into the first period. Springfields goalie, Trevor Boschee would stand tall after giving up the early tally after seeing multiple scoring chances from the Bruins late in the period to keep it a 1-0 game after the first twenty minutes in Blaine.

The second period was a different story for the Bruins, as it was all Springfield. The Jr. Blues would have multiple scoring chances denied by Ethan Robertson but were eventually able to sneak one past the Courtice, ON, Canada net-minder when Jake Peterson would get his first career NAHL goal at 12:11 of the period.

We would find the game tied going into the third period but that would call change when Jimmy Goffredo would score his first career NAHL goal to give Austin back the 2-1 lead 6:34 into the period. From there, the goals would keep coming. Brassard would get his second of the game twenty-six seconds later to make it 3-1 Austin. Late in the game, the Bruins would find themselves on the Chad Thomas Thrivent Financial Power Play when Goffredo would rip a blast from the point to make it 4-1. Robertson would then shut it down to close out the win for the Bruins. Robertson would stop 40 of the 41 shots he would face.

Up next, the Bruins (2-0-0-0, 4pts) take on the Danbury Jr. Hattricks (1-3-0-0, 2pts) at 2:30 PM CST for day 3 of the NAHL Showcase in Blaine.
