“I am extremely thankful for my time in Austin,” mentioned Thrawl. “Although short, under Steve’s leadership, along with the players and Bruins staff, I gained valuable experience that was incredibly helpful in allowing me this opportunity to move to the Division I level. The community of Austin will always hold a special place in my heart as a former player and coach.”

Thrawl joined the Bruins staff this summer with the departure of former assistant coaches Justin Fisher and Hampus Sjödahl, coming over from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) where he was serving as a Volunteer Coach during the 2022-23 Season. Before coaching, Thrawl played Junior Hockey in the NAHL as a member of the Janesville Jets during the 2015-16 season, and then as a member of the Bruins for the 2016-17 season.

“It was great to have a former Bruin return to coach here in Austin,” stated Head Coach and General Manager Steve Howard. “Liam is a very motivated young coach and he isn’t afraid to put in the work to get better. We are excited that he is getting the opportunity to advance to the NCAA D1 level in such a short time and we look forward to watching him continue to find success at RPI.”
