AUSTIN, MINN. – The Austin Bruins are proud to announce that former forward Jens Richards has signed an ECHL contract with the Idaho Steelheads for the 2026-27 season. The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars.
Richards made his professional hockey debut last season with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL, appearing in seven games and recording an assist.
The 24-year-old spent four seasons of his college career with the University of Vermont Catamounts. During his collegiate career, Richards posted 46 points (24G, 22A) in 121 games at Vermont. The former Bruin finished his senior year suiting up for 34 games, notching six goals and eight assists for 14 points. The 6-foot-2, left-handed forward was named Alternate Captain for the Catamounts during his junior year before being named Captain during his final year at Vermont.
Richards spent two seasons in SpamTown where he appeared in 100 career games for the Bruins, tallying 25 goals, 29 assists and 54 points.
