AUSTIN, Minn. – One of the Bruins newest players is already being honored for his play for the black-and-gold. Jared Christy, 20, has been named the NAHL’s Bauer Hockey Central Division Star of the Week for his performance against the Minnesota Magicians this past weekend.

On Friday, his first game with his new club, Christy racked up four assists in the Bruins win 6-5 win over the Magicians in Richfield. He followed up his stellar Friday with an encore performance on Saturday, netting two goals on the ninth annual Paint the Rink Pink Night. Christy’s second goal on the night was easily the biggest of his young Bruins career as he managed to tie the game at four goals apiece, ultimately allowing the Bruins to force overtime and win on a Dante Sheriff breakaway.

Traded to the Bruins on January 30 from the Odessa Jackalopes along with Kyle Herbster,  Christy came to Austin after leading his former team in scoring with 37 points. Now with the Bruins, the Cypress, CA, native has 43 points on the season after his six-point weekend and ranks second on the team in scoring.

Christy and the rest of the Bruins take to the road once again, this time for back-to-back games against their division rivals the Bismarck Bobcats. After this weekend’s road series, the Bruins return home to Riverside Arena to play host to another divisional opponent, the Minot Minotauros, on February 15 and 16. Tickets for the Minot series go on sale Monday, February 10 at all the Bruins vendors including Games People Play, Hy-Vee, Holiday Inn, and Jim’s Marketplace.
