Haskins’ Pair not enough as Bruins fall to Bobcats

Sep 30, 2016

BISMARCK, ND – The Bobcats used the strength of four power play goals – including two in the third – to defeat the Bruins, 5-4 on Friday night at VFW Sports Center. It was the Bruins third loss of the year – all by one goal.

It was nearly a scoreless game through one period but Jared Resseguie chipped a power play goal behind Jake Kucharski with just five seconds to go for a 1-0 Bobcat lead at the first intermission.

They got another man-advantage tally at 5:18 of the 2nd when Tobias Fladeby blasted a one-timer past Kucharski. The Bruins got a pair late in the period when Jon Richards and Travis Kothenbeutel each scored 40 seconds part. Richards tapped home a shot from Will Reedy that sat behind Bobcat goaltender Cameron Haugenoue, and then Kothenbeutel crashed the net, burying an Evan Cholak rebound. The score was tied at two with 40 minutes played.

In the 3rd, the Bruins scored within the first minute to take the lead when Michael Piehler fed Logan Haskins. Back-to-back Bobcat goals from Patrick O’Connor and Fladeby (PP) turned the game back into Bismarck’s favor. At 10:52, Haskins scored his 2nd of the game, putting home a power play goal. On their 7th man advantage of the night, Parker Mismash scored the eventual game-winner at 13:39. Haugenoe stopped 30 of 34 for his 2nd win while Kucharski fell to 1-1-1, stopping 31 of 36.
