Furuseth’s Two 3rd Period Goals Leads Bruins to 4-3 Win

Nov 6, 2021

AUSTIN, MN- Two big 3rd period goals by Damon Furuseth help propel the Bruins over the St. Cloud Norsemen.

After dropping the first game in the weekend home-and-home series with the Norsemen in St. Cloud, the Bruins returned to the friendly confines of Riverside Arena for the 2nd game of the series. In a similar fashion to Friday night, it would be scoreless for the first 16 minutes of the period, until Ryan O’Neill would get one past Bruins goalie, Klayton Knapp, to give the Norsemen the early 1-0 lead. The Bruins, however, would answer back as on the Chad Thomas Thrivent Finacial Power Play, Matys Brassard would pick up his 3rd goal of the season on a redirected shot from John Larkin to end the period at a 1-1 tie after the 1st period.

Things would stay 1-1 until the Bruins would find themselves back on the Power Play, at the 10:31 mark of the 2nd, Jack Malinski would bury a shot from the high slot to give Austin the 2-1 and they would never give it up from there. Damon Furuseth would add two more for the Bruins in the 3rd at 2:10 and 9:09 of the 3rd period to give the Bruins a 4-1 lead. That lead, however, would find it being 1 goal as O’Neill would complete the hat-trick to pull the Norsemen back within one late in the 3rd period. With the game on the line, Klayton Knapp would make three huge saves and stand tall to help the Bruins come away with a 4-3 win over the Norsemen and split the weekend series. Knapp would end up picking up his 2nd win of the season and stop 25 of the 28 shots he would face.

Up next for the Bruins, they welcome the North Iowa Bulls back into Riverside Arena next Friday night for Military Night! All Active Duty and Retired Military Personnel can enjoy free admission to the game as a thank you for everything that they have done! Game time is set for 7:05.
