AUSTIN, Minn. –  The Austin Bruins of the North American Hockey League are proud to announce the commmitment of forward Connor Mylymok to the University of Alaska Fairbanks (NCAA DI).

Mylymok, 19, is in his second junior season spending the majority of his career in the NAHL and with Austin. The Saskatchewan native has racked up 12 points in 14 games with the Bruins this season, which doubles his total from a year ago where he registered six points in 54 games played.

“Connor has been one of the most coachable kids I’ve ever coached,” said Bruins Head Coach Steve Howard. “He’s worked extremely hard to get better and continues that everyday. I am so proud of Connor for accomplishing his dream of getting an NCAA Division-I scholarship to play hockey! Alaska Fairbanks will be getting a great player and one the best leaders that we’ve had here in Austin!”

After his rookie season in the junior ranks in 2018-19, Mylmok began 2019-20 in the USHL with the Youngstown Phantoms where he managed two assists in five games played. Following his stint with the Phantoms, Mylymok was returned to the Bruins in the NAHL where he immediately made an impact with a pair of two-goal games and four multiple-point games.

“So far Austin has been nothing but a learning experience and an unforgettable time,” said Mylymok. “The countless hours at the rink with the boys and coaching staff has helped shape me into the player I am today and achieving this goal. I’ve been very well educated by the coaches and my teammates during my time here. I look forward to finishing the year with this group of guys we have here in Austin and doing some big things in process!”

With the commitment, Mylymok becomes the Bruins’ ninth committed player currently on the roster, with a tenth having departed mid-season to get a jump on his collegiate career.

Mylymok and the Bruins are back in action this week with three games in three nights, all against the St. Cloud Blizzard. On Thursday, January 9, Austin travels to St. Cloud for the second time this season before returning home on Friday, January 10.  On Saturday, January 11, the two teams will meet in St. Cloud once again for the final game of the series. To see Mylymok and all of the Bruins in action, be sure to get your tickets to Friday night’s game at a discounted price at any of the Bruins ticket vendor partners including Games People Play, Hy-Vee, Holiday Inn, and Jim’s Marketplace.
