The Austin Bruins continued play at Riverside Arena against the Minot Minotauros. Period number one was as fast as expected. Minot found the score sheet first with a goal from the Canadian Cam Rowat. Austin went to the dressing room at the first intermission trailing 1-0 while outshooting Minot 13-7. The second stanza Austin got plenty of looks on Ryan Ruck. Captains John Simonson and Chris Fischer set up CJ Smith as the Bruins evened the score 1-1. After two periods of play Austin outshot Minot 31-13. The third period featured great flow as the back and forth action continued. Austin took a timeout with just 15 seconds remaining, with an offensive zone draw the bruins had a couple of chances but could not capitalize. With no conclusion after regulation the game went to overtime. In extra time both teams had their chances but could not find twine. In the shootout Minot was able to score twice to seal the victory. Austin will wrap up the two game set this Saturday night in Austin. You can tune into AM 1480 KAUS for Puck Talk hosted by Dan Bettlach at 6:05, Pregame coverage starts at 6:55.
