Bruins Rip Bobcats 8-3

The Black and Yellow concluded play against the Bismarck Bobcats this Saturday night at Riverside Arena. Austin came out of the gate with some dominance as Captain Chris Fischer scored just 20 seconds into the contest. Fifteen seconds later it was John Simonson who was set up by Chris Fischer and CJ Smith. The B’s added a Power Play goal from Riley Colvard, the assists went to Cody Dixon and John Simonson. Austin led 4-0 with a tally from Nate Mondry helpers went to Nolan Kirley and Easton Viitala. The fifth goal came off the stick of Travis Maxwell. At the end of one period of play the Austin Bruins led 5-0. The second frame the Black and Yellow got a Power Play goal from Josh Bretner assisting was CJ Smith. Bismarck was able to counter as Fillip Starzinski found the back of the net. The B’s answered back and  took a 7-1 lead with a goal from Chris Fischer. Austin than went up 8-0 with a CJ Smith goal, Grant Eichstadt and Travis Maxwell provided the helpers. Bismarck was able to add their second before the conclusion of the middle period. At the end of two periods of play Austin led 8-2. The third and final stanza Bismarck was able to inch closer with their final goal of the contest. The B’s held strong in the third period for a monumental 8-3 victory. CJ Smith finished the contest with five points. With the victory Nick Lehr now has 31 career victories.  Austin is back at Riverside Arena next weekend to tangle with the Wings from Aberdeen South Dakota.
