Bruins Lose in Shootout

The Austin Bruins sparked off a series at Riverside Arena against the Aberdeen Wings as the battle for third place continued.  The opening frame was a solid start for the Bruins. Charlie Adams tipped in a shot from Trevor Waldoch and the Bruins led 1-0. The Wings answered back with a goal from Cory Ward. At the end of one period of play the score was 1-1. Austin outshot the Wings 10-7 in the first period. The second period Austin regained the lead with a John Simonson goal assisting was Chris Fischer and Mike Bond. The Wings tied the game at two with a CJ Reuschlien goal. After two periods of play the score was 2-2. The final period the Bruins scored as Charlie Adams beat Marcus Zelzer. The Wings answered back to tie the contest 3-3 late in regulation. Austin had a power play in the final moments but could not get one past Marcus Zelzer. At the end of regulation the score was tied 3-3 and went to overtime. The overtime presented no conclusion as the Bruins than went to a shootout. The Wings capitalized on the shootout and won 4-3.
