Bruins Lose in Regulation

The Austin Bruins were back at Riverside Arena to battle the Bismarck Bobcats. The Bobcats started the scoring just over the half way point in the first period. Bismarck took a 2-0 lead just 17 seconds later. The Bobcats took a commanding 3-0 lead with a scrum in front of Nick Lehr. At the end of one period of play Austin was doubled up on shots 12-6 and trailed 3-0. The Bruins bounced back early in the second with a goal from CJ Smith assists went to Brandon Wahlin and John Simonson. The Bruins had five power play opportunities through two periods and could not capitalize. At the end of two periods of play Austin trailed 3-1 and outshot Bismarck 17-16. The third period Austin had trouble getting the puck past Aaron Nelson. Bismarck added two more goals in the final frame. The Bruins go to 0-1-1 on the weekend with the 5-1 loss. Austin will play this Monday against the Coulee Region Chill in Onalaska Wisconsin. If you don’t make the trip you can tune into to AM 1480 KAUS for live play by play.
