Bruins knocked off by Bobcats!

The Austin Bruins continued their weekend series at Riverside arena. Last night they bested the defending Robertson Cup Champion Bismarck Bobcats. Coming into action Saturday night the Bobcats have lost five games in a row. The Bruins are 3-2-2 in the New Year and are 8-7-3 at Riverside Arena this season.  The opening frame from Riverside Arena was jam packed. The Bruins dented the score sheet first as Cody Hotchkin tipped a pass in front of the net that came from Connor Quinn; John Kirby also had an assist on the goal. The Bobcats than capitalized off of a defensive mistake, Brett Bower put the puck in the goal was unassisted. The bodies continued to bang as the period went on. Mike Adomowicz dropped the gloves at center ice and fought Tyler Richter. At the first intermission the Bruins and the Bobcats were tied at one. The middle period was much of the same. Both teams failed to capitalize in the second period. At the second intermission the contest was still tied at one. Austin outshot Bismarck 29-19. The third period the Bobcats got on the board right away as Grandt Mindt scored from the high slot. Assists went to Charles Mosey and Nickoli Rosenthal that gave the Bobcats the 2-1 lead. The Bobcats than added an empty netter. The Bruins go on to lose 3-1. The Bruins finished the weekend with a split. After the game youth hockey players from the surrounding areas got a chance to skate with the bruins. The Bruins are next in action at Riverside Arena on the 28th of January, as they will battle the Owatonna Express.
