Bruins Keep Hold of 1st Place But Fall in Shootout

Nov 12, 2021

AUSTIN, MN – In the first of the weekend home-and-home series the North Iowa Bulls would come away with a 3-2 win in the Shoot-Out.

In the 3rd meeting of the season between the two clubs, the Bruins and the Bulls got together Friday night inside Riverside Arean for the first time since October 2nd. Right out of the gate, things would be evenly matched until Carson Riddle would collect his 8th goal of the season on the Chad Thomas Thrivent Finacial Power Play at 4:34 of the 1st period to give the Bruins the early 1-0 lead. North Iowa would answer back with one of their own as Justin Mexico would tally his 2nd of the season to get one past Bruins goalie, Klayton Knapp to tie it up at 1-1.

2nd Period would begin the same way the 1st ended at 1-1 until 5:35 into the period where Max Scott would find a rebound in front of the net of the initial shot from Ryan Coughlin to give North Iowa a 2-1 lead. Bruins, however, would answer back as Isaak Brassard would find a loose puck in front of Hunter Garvey to get his 1st career NAHL Goal to tie it up at 2-2. It would stay 2-2 through the end of regulation and overtime until the teams would find themselves in a shoot-out for the 2nd time this season. The two shootout goals by Michael Mesic and Justin Mexico would seal the deal for the Bulls as Alex Trombley would be the lone shootout tally for the Bruins.

Both teams are back at it again tomorrow, this time down in Mason City for a 7:30 pm puck from the Mason City Arena. All the action can be seen and heard on Hockey Tv and Power 96.
