Bruins Hold Off Minotauros in Wild Saturday Night Victory

Dec 19, 2021

MINOT, ND – Seven Third period goals and a shattered pane of glass highlight a wild Saturday Night in Minot as the Bruins split the weekend series with the Minotauros.

Bruins would waste no time to start the game, as twelve seconds into the game, Jack Malinski would pick up his 4th goal of the season to give the Bruins the early 1-0 lead at the Pepsi Rink at MAYSA Arena. The game would be stopped 4 minutes later, however, as Xavier Jean-Louis would break a pane of glass in the defensive zone while trying to clear the puck. This would result in a 30-minute delay of game while rink staff would make the repairs to continue the game.

Bruins would have a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period when they would find themselves on the Chad Thomas Thrivent Finacial Power Play on Cross Checking minor given to Ben Johnson. Ocean Wallace would snap a rocket past Carter Claffton to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead. That would set the tone for an absolute wild 3rd period that would be coming up.

20 seconds into the 3rd, Minot get their first goal of the night from Dean Schwenninger that cut the Bruins lead in half. Minot would then tie the game up at 2-2 on Huston Karpman’s 11th of the season at 9:55 of the 3rd period. Bruins would get their 2nd Power Play goal of the night, this time from Carson Riddle to give the Bruins back the lead at 3-2. From there, Minot would get two more, one from Schwenninger (his second of the night), and Braden Panzer to give Minot their first lead of the night at 4-3. With 2 minutes left to play, Nakodan Greyeyes would get his 1st of the season of a redirected shot in front of Claffton to make it 4-4. Then Isaak Brassard would score with 43 seconds left to play to give the Bruins 5-4 win in Minot.

Bruins now head on the Holiday Break sharing the lead with Minot in the Central Divison before starting the 2nd half of the season on New Year’s Eve with the North Iowa Bulls.
