Bruins Gearing Up for NAHL Supplemental Draft

May 7, 2020

AUSTIN, Minn. – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent cancellation of the NAHL season back in March, the Bruins have turned their attention to the 2020-21 season.

With the changes to the NAHL season, the league announced the NAHL Supplemental Draft scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at 1 P.M. CDT. With the USHL draft being completed this past week, the NAHL Supplemental Draft will allow teams to reload on positions that thinned out due to player selections in the USHL. The Supplemental Draft will consist of three rounds with the order being determined by the final regular-season standings.

In addition to the selections made on Tuesday, teams will also receive an additional tender to use Wednesday, May 13, 2020, allowing them to sign a fourth player who wasn’t chosen on the day prior.

As the name implies, the Supplemental Draft will be in addition to the NAHL Entry Draft scheduled for July 21, 2020. Thanks to the Supplemental Draft and additional tender, teams will now be allowed to protect a total of 35 players, instead of the traditional 31, going into training camps.
