Bruins Fall in Weekend Finale to North Iowa

Nov 13, 2021

MASON CITY, IA – North Iowa completes the weekend sweep of the Bruins by taking the Saturday night contest by the final of 5-3.

In a similar fashion to Friday night, the Bruins would get on the board first, at Sutter Muzzatti would score 33 seconds into the contest to give the Bruins the early 1-0 over Hunter Garvey and the Bulls. That lead, however, wouldn’t hold as 3 minutes later, Carter Rapalje would score to tie the game up at 1-1. North Iowa would add another before the 1st period would end, as Hunter Bulger would sneak a bouncing puck past Hudson Hodges to give the Bulls a 2-1 lead after the 1st period of action.

Coming out of the 1st-period intermission, Jens Richards would blast a past Garvey to tie the game up at 2-2 1:20 into the 2nd period. North Iowa would add to more on back-to-back breakaway goals by Byron Hartley to make it a 4-2 lead for the Bulls. The Bruins would get one back though, as Muzzatti would collect his 2nd of the game to pull the Bruins back within one after the end of the 2nd period. North Iowa would seal the deal in the 3rd as Rapalje would get his 2nd of the night to give the Bulls a 5-3 win and take over sole possession of 1st place in the Central Divison.

Up next for the Bruins, they welcome the Minot Minotauros back to Riverside Arena next Friday and Saturday Night. Tickets for both games are on sale now by visiting AustinBruins.com.
