Apr 16, 2022

ABERDEEN, SD – In the final regular-season game of the season for the Bruins, Aberdeen comes back and wins it in overtime.

For the twelfth and final time in the regular- season, the Bruins and Wings would meet on Saturday night. Unlike last night, there would not be a score until the 2nd period when Walter Zacher would score first for the Bruins while on the Chad Thomas Thrivent Finacial Power-Play to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead 8:04 into the 2nd period. That lead wouldn’t last long, as Aberdeen would answer right back a minute and forty-six seconds later when Dominic Schimizzi would get his 14th of the season to tie the game up at 1-1 and it would remain that way after the 2nd period.

The 3rd period would be a wild one, as it would set the tone for the remainder of the game. The Bruins would find themselves back on the Chad Thomas Thrivent Financial Power play, when Liam Whitehouse, a 146 game veteran of the NAHL, would score his first career NAHL Goal 9:26 into the 3rd period to give the Bruins a then 2-1 lead. The Wings would then get two straight, one from a redirected shot from Anthony Galante at 10:08 of the 3rd and then Devon Carlstrom would give the Bruins the 3-2 lead moments later. In the closing seconds of the 3rd, Alex Trombley would snipe one past Anton Castro to force overtime at the Odde Ice Center. Aberdeen would cap it off on the game-winner from Calrstom to give Aberdeen a 4-3 victory to close out the Regular Season.

Up next for both teams in the First Round of the Roberston Cup Playoffs in a Best of Five series between each other. Dates and time have yet to be released and will be announced at the beginning of next week.
