Bruins Fall in Overtime on Saturday Night, Take Three of Four Possible Points.

ABERDEEN, SD – The Wings would spoil the weekend plans as they would come back to force overtime and ultimately win on Saturday night.

After picking up a 4-1 win on Friday, the Bruins looked to complete the weekend sweep of the Wings on Saturday Night inside the Odde Ice Center. Both teams would have a scoreless first period as Cole Moore for Aberdeen and Trent Wiemken for the Bruins would come up with multiple big saves. The lone goal of the second period would come from leading rookie Jimmy Goffredo, as the Mount Laurel, New Jersey native would find a clean pass from Dylan Cook on the near side of Moore to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.

After taking a 1-0 lead to the locker room after the 2nd period, the Bruins looked to hold it and complete the weekend sweep of Aberdeen. That lead would be nullified just six minutes into the third period, as Luke Backel would get his first of the season to tie the game up at 1-1.

Sixty minutes of regulation hockey would not be enough as the Bruins and Wings would go in a  3-on-3 five-minute overtime period. Both teams would trade scoring chances early but Devon Carlstrom would get a feed from Alexander Gullichsen to beat Parker Anderson on the back check. That would prove to be all he needed as he would net the eventual game-winner two minutes and thirty-two seconds into overtime to win the game for Aberdeen. The Bruins would take three of four possible points on the weekend and would now find themselves in a tie for first place in the division with the Minot Minotauros, who will meet up for the next four games.

The Bruins head to Minot next weekend to finish up their season-long six-game road trip. Game time for next Friday and Saturday’s games at the Pepsi Rink is set for 7:35 PM CST.
