Bruins Drop Game Two

The Austin Bruins played the second game of the playoff series against the Alexandria Blizzard at the Runestone Community Center. Austin picked up a victory in game one on Friday night as Tyler Bruggeman recorded 39 saves.  The Blizzard scored a power play goal in the first with 6:21 remaining. Austin had a couple of opportunities in the first but could not get one past Michael Bitzer. At the end of two periods of play Austin was outshot 7-6 and trailed 1-0. The second period Alexandria took a 2-0 lead early in the period. Alexandria added their third goal of the game as Bruggeman was beaten top shelf. Nolan Kirley fought Matt Youso late in the second period to attempt to give Austin the momentum. At the end of two periods of play Austin trailed 3-0 but had outshot Alexandria 25-21. The third period Alexandria took a 5-0 lead with a couple of goals that got past Nick Lehr. The final was 5-0 Alexandria with the victory. Game three will take place on Friday the 13th and Saturday the 13th at Riverside Arena. It will be the first Junior Hockey playoff game at the Barn since 1985 when the Austin Mavericks won the Anderson Cup as the United States Hockey League Champions.
