Bruins Defenseman Davies Commits to RPI

Oct 10, 2018

AUSTIN, Minn. – After a summer of accolades and nominations, Bruins defenseman Dylan Davies took the next step in his hockey career with a commitment to play Division-I hockey at RPI.

Davies, a fourth-round draft selection of the Bruins this past summer, spent most of July competing with the United States U17 National Development team before joining his Bruins teammates in Austin. The Michigan native was also named to the NHL Central Scouting Prospects to Watch report earlier in October.

“Everything about the school felt right,” said Davies. “The coaches, facilities, academics, the [hockey] program, and the tradition, all led me to choose [RPI]”

Located in Troy, NY, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) has a strong Division-I hockey program with a long list of successful alumni including NHL player/head coach Adam Oates and Kevin Constantine.

Davies added, “[Now] my focus is to keep on getting better in all areas and most importantly, do whatever it takes to help the Bruins win. We’ve had a great start and I hope to keep it going strong.”

Through six games with the Bruins, the 6-foot-3 defenseman has logged one assist and stands tall with a +3 in plus/minus.

Davies and the rest of the Bruins embark on their first true road trip of the season this weekend. On Friday, they have a rematch with last weekend’s opponents the Brookings Blizzard and will take on the Minnesota Wilderness for the first time of the season on Saturday.

Austin’s next home game is Friday, October 19 against the Minnesota Magicians. Tickets go on sale Monday, October 15 at all Bruins vendors including: Hy-Vee, Games People Play, Jim’s Marketplace, and Holiday Inn and Austin Conference Center.
