AUSTIN, MN – In a game that seemed destined for a 1-0 final, the Magicians broke the scoreless tie in the final minutes of the third period and added two empty-netters to beat the Bruins 3-0 on Friday night at Riverside Arena.

The Bruins dominated the opening period, outshooting the Magicians 16-7. They ran into some bad luck with two goalpost hits and missed chances on the power play. The Magicians played a stronger second period, but goaltenders Conor Klaers and Mads Sogaard stole the spotlight, keeping the game scoreless through 40 minutes.

At 17:35 of the third period, Carter Wagner finally broke through, driving the net off the rush and cashing his own rebound for the 1-0 Magicians lead. The Bruins pulled Sogaard but allowed a pair of empty netters to Arturas Laukaitis and Davis Kirkendall – both assisted by Bram Scheerer, to bring the game to a 3-0 final. Klaers turned aside 30 shots for his first shutout of the season. Sogaard stopped 20 of 21.

The Bruins begin a four game road trip in Richfield on Saturday to try and split the weekend. Game time is 7:05. Fans can watch the game on HockeyTV (AWAY AUDIO), or listen on AM 1480 KAUS, myaustinminnesota.com, or the iHeart Radio App.
