Bruins Blast Blizz

The 1st place Black and Yellow were back at Riverside Arena to battle the Brookings Blizzard. The Local Salvation Army and the Austin Bruins teamed up for the 1st Annual Teddy Bear Toss.  The opening period out came the bears as Brandon Wahlin went top cheese s he was set up by Brandon Wahlin. Brookings evened the scoring with an unassisted goal from Evan Hesse. At the end of one period of play the Bruins and Blizz were tied at one. The second stanza was not as fast as the first as play seemed flat. Brookings gained the momentum with a goal from Tommy Williams. At the end of two periods the score was 2-1. The third frame the Bruins gave 1374 with a goal from the Rochester native Drew Anderson assisting was Jake Flynn and Brandon Wahlin. Austin took a 3-2 lead with a Shorty from CJ Smith. Austin scored their third of the period as Brandon Wahlin was set up by CJ Smith.  Austin took the 5-2 lead with a Power Play goal from Drew Anderson assisting was Josh Bretner. Austin collects three of four possible points on the weekend with the 5-2 victory. Austin hits the road next weekend to travel to the Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen South Dakota to battle the Wings.
