Bruins Bested By Bobcats, 2-1

Sep 28, 2018

AUSTIN, Minn.  – In front of their home fans for the first time during the regular season, the Bruins fell to the Bismarck Bobcats, 2-1.

The crowd was rocking and the building was excitable, but the thunderous cheers of the Bruins faithful were silenced rather quickly by the visiting Bobcats who wasted no time in getting on the board. Only a minute and 43 seconds into the game, Ryan Taylor slipped one through the legs of Austin goalie, Kyle McClellan for the 1-0 lead.

The Bruins weren’t able to find the equalizer in the first but immediately out of the gates in the second, Dante Sheriff found Valdemar Ahlberg in the slot who fired it past John Roberts and tied things at 1-1. Austin continued to battle getting shots on goal, but a 2-on-1 left McClellan defenseless and the Jacob Marti fired into a practically open net for the 2-1 Bismarck lead.

Both the second and third periods were filled with penalties and power-play chances for the Bruins but they weren’t able to capitalize and ultimately fell, 2-1. Both teams are back at it tomorrow night at Riverside Arena. Puck drop scheduled for 7:05 and tickets are still available at all of the Bruins ticketing vendors including Hy-Vee, Holiday Inn Austin/Conference Center, Jim’s Market Place and Games People Play.
