Bruins Beat Blizz

The Austin Bruins kicked off a three game road trip this Wednesday as they continued play against the Brookings Blizzard. Austin took a 1-0 lead with a Power Play goal from AJ Reid, assisting was Jay Dickman. Austin made it 2-0 with a goal from Brandon Wahlin, assisting was John Simonson. Brookings cut the lead in half with a goal from Erik Brenk on the Power Play. Austin outshot Brookings 13-9 in the first and led 2-1. The second frame Easton Viitala dragged the puck to the front and scored his first goal of his NAHL career, the assist went to Nate Mondry. The Bruins were outshot 24-23 through two periods of play. Austin led 3-1 at the second intermission. The final frame Jay Dickman scored his ninth of the season, assisting was Joe Caprio and Riley Colvard. Austin finished the contest with a 4-1 victory as Lehr recorded 33 saves. Austin will play Thursday and Friday night in Aberdeen South Dakota to battle the Wings.
