BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Zmolek Strong on the Blue-Line at Minnesota State-Mankato, McAdam Stingy in ECHL

Feb 11, 2019

NHL: Christian Folin (Bruins ’10-12) is on the move and headed to his fourth NHL team in his career. The fifth-year defenseman was traded earlier this week from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Montreal Canadiens right before the NHL’s trade deadline. Earlier this month we talked about how Folin could be the odd-man out in Philly and this trade looks like the Flyers brass doing him a favor and sending him to a team where he can make an impact as a top-six defenseman.

ECHL: Two shutouts in three games? That’s Eamon McAdam (Bruins ’10-11). When not in the AHL, the Newfoundland Growlers goalie has helped his team to a 5-2-1-0 record. The Perkasie, PA, native leads all ECHL goalies in GAA with a small 1.72. He’s the only netminder with below a 2.00 GAA in 8 games or more.

NCAA DI:  A junior season for Trey Dodd (Bruins ’13-15) is well underway. The defenseman has played in 13 games so far this season for Brown University. The forward has five points in those games, two goals, and three assists.

Riese Zmolek (Bruins ’14-15) continues to anchor the blue-line for Minnesota State-Mankato in his sophomore season. The Rochester, MN, native and son of former NHLer Doug Zmolek has posted a gaudy +14 in +/- for the Mavericks. To go with his strong defensive play, Zmolek also has a goal and seven assists on the season.
