Bruins Alumni Report: Sturm, Dodd Score First College Goals

NCAA DI: Nico Sturm (Bruins ’14-15) scored the first goal of his collegiate career, the fourth for Clarkson in a 5-2 win against RPI on Friday night. In the same game, Jake Kielly (Bruins ’14-15) got the win in between the pipes, making 20 saves on 22 shots. The following night, Sturm scored the first goal of the game and Kielly made 36 shots as the Golden Knights beat Union, 3-1. Another former Bruin, Trey Dodd (Bruins ’13-15) also got his first NCAA goal, scoring the opening tally in Brown’s 4-2 loss to Cornell on Friday. Jason Pawloski (Bruins ’12-13) made 24 saves on 25 shots for Mankato in a 1-1 tie against Jay Dickman (Bruins ’12-14) and Bemidji State on Friday. On Saturday, in a 2-1 Bemidji overtime win, Ian Scheid (Bruins ’14-15) and Dickman each had assists, Dickman setting up the OT winner. Zach Driscoll (Bruins ’14-15) got two more wins for St. Cloud at Colorado College, 7-3 on Friday and 4-1 on Saturday. He’s now 5-2-0 on the season.

NCAA DIII: Adrian College continued to roll sweeping Marian with 4-2 and 6-3 wins. Trevor Boyd (Bruins ’13-14) finished the weekend with two goals and two assists while Cory Dunn (Bruins ’13-15) had a goal and two assists. Boyd’s 13 points leads the team.

USHL: Austin Rueschhoff (Bruins ’15-16) scored his third goal of the season as Dubuque topped Green Bay, 3-2 on Friday. Rochester native Riese Zmolek (Bruins ’14-15) was named a captain for the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders.
