BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: St. Thomas Duo Succeeding As Freshman, Rueschoff a Key Piece in Western Michigan

Dec 10, 2019

NCAA DI: Austin Rueschoff (Bruins ’15-16) marches on with his career at Western Michigan University, now in his junior season. The ever consistent player, Rueschoff has six points (5G, 1A) in his first 10 games this season. In his first 69 games of his collegiate career, Rueschoff averaged exactly one goal per three games (23 total goals). With five goals in his first 16 games of the season, Rueschoff continues his pace set fourth in his first two collegiate years.

NCAA DIII: The D-III season starts much later than many other leagues, but that longer layoff hasn’t caused any problems for Andy Willis (Bruins ’17-19). The freshman at the University of St. Thomas University is off to a HOT start this season having recorded three points (1G, 2A) in his first four games of the season. Willis scored his first collegiate goal on 11/16/2019 in a 9-3 St. Thomas win over St. Olaf University.

Joining Willis at St. Thomas as a freshman is Ian Mageau (Bruins ’18-19). Like all freshmen, Willis included, Mageau sees limited playing time but has made the most of his chances. In five games played this year, the Duluth, MN, native has four points (1G, 3A). To bring things full-circle with his former Bruins teammate, like Willis, Mageau also scored his first collegiate goal on 11/16/2019.
