BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Smith wins Hockey East Player of the Week

NHL: The Minnesota Wild called Christan Folin (Bruins ’10-12) back up on Monday, for the start of their post-All-Star break schedule Tuesday in New York against the Islanders. Folin appeared in 40 games with the Wild last season, finishing with 2 goals, 8 assists, and a +3 rating. He has suited up 14 times in the NHL this season, but has been playing in the AHL with Iowa for the past 15 games.

NCAA DI: CJ Smith (Bruins ’11-13) was named the Hockey East Player of the Week as he scored a hat trick in U Mass-Lowell’s 8-1 win over Arizona State on Saturday. He finished the weekend with four goals and an assist in the River Hawks sweep and leads the team in both goals (13) and points (28). Brennan Sanford (Bruins ’13-14) scored his 5th goal of the season for Michigan State in a 4-2 win at Ohio State on Friday. It was a tough weekend for former Bruins goaltenders, but Eamon McAdam (Bruins ’10-11) made 43 saves in a 6-3 Penn State loss to Michigan on Saturday. Jason Pawloski (Bruins ’12-13) made all 7 saves he faced on Friday, but left the game with an injury as Minnesota State ultimately lost to St. Cloud State, 5-4.

NCAA DIII: Rack up another sweep for Adrian as they blasted Lawrence University, 8-2 and 5-1. Trevor Boyd (Bruins ’14-15) scored two goals on Friday while Cory Dunn (Bruins ’13-15) had a goal and three assists. Dunn added an assist in the Saturday win.

USHL: Nico Sturm (Bruins ’14-15) scored his 3rd goal in 5 games and Jake Kielly (Bruins ’14-15) made 36 saves as Tri City topped Fargo on Friday, 5-4. The same night, JC Maclean (Bruins ’14-15) scored for Omaha in a 4-1 win against Bloomington and Josh Wilkins (Bruins ’14-15) got a goal for Sioux City as they edged Dubuque, 3-2.
