NCAA DI: Congratulations are in order for Johnny Simonson (Bruins ’11-13) who is a 2016 National Champion, as his UND Fighting Hawks defeated Quinnipiac 5-1 in the NCAA DI National Championship Game in Tampa Bay, FL on April 9th. It is the 8th National Championship for the program, and the first since 2000. In Late April, JC MacLean (Bruins ’14-15) announced his commitment to the Clarkson University. MacLean is currently a member of Omaha Lancers of the USHL.

USHL: As for former Bruins still playing, Jake Kielly (Bruins ’14-15) and Nico Sturm (Bruins ’14-15) are leading the Tri City Storm, who are currently tied 1-1 with Waterloo in the 2nd round of the Clark Cup Playoffs after sweeping Sioux Falls in round one. Through game one of the current series, Kielly – also a Clarkson commit – had posted a 4-0-0 record with a 0.75 GAA, a .974 save percentage, and two shutouts. Sturm has registered at least a point in all five playoff games (3 goals, 3 assists), and has a six game streak dating back to the last contest of the regular season.
