BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Rueschhoff Breaks Out

AHL: CJ Smith (Bruins ’11-13) scored his second AHL goal as the Rochester Americans lost to the Utica Comets 5-1 on Friday. Smith leads the Amerks with 4 points in the early going.

SPHL: Keegan Asmundson (Bruins ’10-11), now with the Huntsville Havoc, got the start and the win in their opening night victory against Macon Mayhem on Saturday night, 5-1. Asmundson made 27 saves on 28 shots.

NCAA DI: Austin Rueschhoff (Bruins ’15-16) scored the first two goals of his collegiate career and added an assist in Western Michigan’s Friday loss to Michigan State. Justin Misiak (Bruins ‘15-17) scored his second goal of the season, tying Friday’s game vs. Alabama-Huntsville at 4 in the third period. Michigan Tech went on to a 5-4 win. Jade Miller (Bruins ’15-16) scored his first goal of the season as part of a huge offensive weekend for the UMD Bulldogs, who tied Merrimack 5-5 on Friday and then beat them 7-2 Saturday. Jake Kielly (Bruins ’14-15) shut out Providence on Saturday, making 26 saves in a 4-0 Clarkson win. The night before, the Friars won an OT thriller against St. Lawrence, with Josh Wilkins (Bruins ’14-15) playing hero, netting the game-winner. In Bemidji State’s 4-1 loss on Saturday, Jay Dickman (Bruins ’12-14) scored the only Beavers goal, his first of the season. Jon Richards (Bruins ’16-17) picked up his first collegiate point, an assist in a 4-3 OT loss to Niagara on Friday.

USHL: Des Moines beat Sioux Falls 4-3 in OT on Friday, with Jake Kucharski (Bruins ’16-17) earning the win in net, making 35 saves. Kris Carlson (Bruins ’15-16) got a win with 33 saves on Saturday as Central Illinois defeated Cedar Rapids, 5-3. AJ Drobot (Bruins ’15-17) scored Fargo’s fourth and final goal in a 4-1 Sunday victory against Omaha.
