BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Hot Starts for Several Bruins Alums

NHL: Suiting up for his fifth season in the NHL, Christian Folin has a new team in the Philadelphia Flyers. Folin signed in Philly this past off-season making it his third big-league club after the Minnesota Wild and L.A. Kings. Folin, a true stay-at-home defenseman is second on the team in +/- at +7 and has one point in seventeen games played.

AHL: C.J. Smith (Bruins ’11-13) and the Rochester Americans are sitting pretty atop the North Division in the American Hockey League. Smith’s 17 points (6G, 11A) rank 4th on the team and second among forwards, as he tries to break into the NHL the season.

ECHL: Back in the ECHL after a championship winning 2017-18 in the SPHL with the Huntsville Havoc, Keegan Asmundson (Bruins ’10-11) has spent the entire season with the Kalamazoo Wings. Asmundson has the teams’ lowest GAA at 2.58 and highest Save Percentage at .909.

NCAA DI: Josh Wilkins (Bruins ’14-15) has been on a tear with the Providence College Friars during his junior season. Through 13 games played, Wilkins has netted four goals and 11 assists, good enough for an average of 1.15 points per game. Wilkins and the Friars are currently the 10th ranked hockey team in the nation.

USHL: Keeping with the Omaha, Nebraska theme, Jaden Shields (Bruins ’16-18) locked in his first-career USHL goal back on November 18, 2018.

Of the handful of former Bruins in the USHL, nobody has more points than Xander Lamppa with the Waterloo Black Hawks. The Rochester, MN, native has 10 points in 18 games including a three-point night just over a week ago against the Lincoln Stars.
