BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Folin Trying To Avoid Being Odd Man Out in Philly, No. 2 UMass-Amherst Led By Hildenbrand

Jan 28, 2019

NHL: Life in the show has changed a little bit for Christian Folin (Bruins ’10-12) since the Philadelphia Flyers let go of Head Coach Dave Hakstol back in December. Philly’s new bench boss Scott Gordon, was promoted to the role after coaching the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for the past three and a half seasons. Gordon’s intimate knowledge of the Flyers younger players has left Folin as one of the odd men out. Folin has only played in six games since Gordon took over on December 17, registering a +/- of -3 with no points. Folin has one assist on the season and is still looking for his first goal of the year.

NCAA DI:  William Riedell (Bruins ’15-16) continues through his collegiate career at Lake Superior State University. The Greensboro, NC, native has nine points during his sophomore season (four goals and five assists) which is almost double his five points scored in his freshman year.

Forward Niko Hildenbrand (Bruins ’13-14)  has been appointed team captain of the UMass-Amherst Minutemen. In his junior season, Niko has a modest seven points (two goals and five assists) but his leadership has helped the team as the Minutemen are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation on both major college hockey polls.

NCAA DIII: Cory Dunn (Bruins ’13-15) is in the final year of his collegiate career at Adrian College. As a defenseman, the Michigan native is averaging exactly one point-per-game. Through 20 games this season, Dunn has exactly 20 points (five goals, 15 assists), which are some incredible contributions from a blueliner.
