BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Flipping the Calendar

SPHL: Keegan Asmundson (Bruins ’10-11) got a 4-3 OT win on Wednesday over Birmingham, making 25 saves on 28 shots. He holds a 9-5 record as a member of the Huntsville Havoc with a 2.68 GAA and a .917 SV%.

NCAA DI: Jay Dickman’s (Bruins ’12-14) standout Junior season continued with a goal in Bemidji State’s 4-1 win over Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday night. He leads the Beavers with 11 goals on the season, including a hat trick on December 15th against Alaska Anchorage. Jake Kielly (Bruins ’14-15) picked up right where he left off coming out of holiday break, making all 12 saves in a 4-0 shutout win over Canisius on Tuesday night – his third shutout in seven games. Nico Sturm (Bruins ’14-15) scored the game-winning goal in the game, his 7th of the season. Clarkson has won 12 games in a row and remains the #3 ranked team in the nation. Providence claimed the Three Rivers Classic Championship in Pittsburgh with a 6-0 win over Arizona State and a 2-1 triumph against Robert Morris. Josh Wilkins (Bruins ’14-15) finished with a goal and two assists. Austin Rueschhoff (Bruins ’15-16) scored twice while Dawson DiPietro (Bruins ’15-16) had two assists (including setting up Rueschhoff) as Western Michigan beat Bowling Green, 5-2 in their only game of the week on Thursday night. Minnesota State-Mankato ended up splitting their weekend series with Northern Michigan, losing 4-3 on Friday and bouncing back to win 6-3 on Saturday. Riese Zmolek (Bruins ’14-15) scored his second collegiate goal and added an assist in the loss plus another helper the next night while Ian Schied (Bruins ’14-15) picked up an assist on Saturday. Jason Pawloski (Bruins ’12-13) was the winning goaltender on Saturday, making 23 saves. Jacob Paganelli (Bruins ’15-16) scored his second goal of the year in the second of a pair of weekend ties between Princeton and St. Clould State. Alex Jasiek (Bruins ’14-15) picked up a pair of helpers for Dartmouth in their 3-1 Friday win against New Hampshire. Congratulations are in order for Jon Richards (Bruins ’16-17) who was named the “Collegiate Tier Player of the Year” by the Minnesota Advancement Program two weeks ago. NCAA DIII: Adrian finished third at the Codfish Bowl Invitational at UMass Boston, with Trevor Boyd (Bruins 13-14) scoring twice on Saturday. The Bulldogs also played Tuesday night and defeated Trinity, 4-1 with Cory Dunn (Bruins ’13-15) picking up two assists. Jack Murphy (Bruins ’16-17) was put on Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s top line and rewarded his coaching staff with his first collegiate goal on Saturday, but the Blugolds fell to Northland, 5-2.

USHL: AJ Drobot (Bruins 15-17) picked up an assist in two of Fargo’s three games over the weekend and now has 5 points in his last 8 games. Former Bruins goaltenders Kris Carlson (Bruins ’15-16) and Jake Kucharski (Bruins ’16-17) went head to head on Friday, with Carlson coming out with the win, making 24 saves in Central Illinois’ 6-3 win over Des Moines.
