May 1, 2018

AUSTIN, MN – Bruins forward Andy Willis was named to two NAHL Rookie Teams on Monday, appearing on the All-NAHL Rookie 2nd Team as well as the Central Division All-Rookie Team.

Willis, a ’98-birthyear from Ballwin, MO joined the Bruins at the beginning of October after spending the 2016-17 season and 2017 NAHL Showcase as a member of the Lone Star Brahmas. Willis appeared in 8 regular season games and one playoff contest for the Brahmas in ’16-17 on their way to Robertson Cup. He became a staple in the Bruins lineup upon arriving in Austin and found success immediately, with four goals and an assist in his first six games. From November 3rd to December 8th, Willis racked up five goals and 12 assists, highlighted by a 5-point game in Bismarck on December 2nd (1 goals, 4 assists). His steady production continued through January, eventually earning him a spot on the Central Division Top Prospects roster. He picked up an assist on a goal by teammate Evan Cholak at the Tournament.

Although his offense cooled off in February, Willis finished the season strong with a goal and four assists in his last five games. The complete list of All-NAHL Rookie Teams as well as the Four Divisional All-Rookie teams can be viewed HERE.
