Wahlin Scores Game Winner

The Austin Bruins traveled to Aberdeen South Dakota to take on the Aberdeen Wings. It was the first action for the Bruins since Pink Night in which the Austin Bruins and the Hormel Institute raised more than 31,000 dollars for Breast Cancer Research. The Bruins continued the momentum into Thursday’s battle with Aberdeen as Colton Kramer set up John Kirby and gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead. The Wings stormed back and took a one goal lead as Aberdeen scored 2 goals in less than a minute. Austin than capitalized on a scrum in front of the net CJ Smith was the goal getter the assist went to John Simonson. At the end of the first intermission the Bruins and Wings were tied 2-2. The second period the Bruins continued to pour on the pressure. Chris Fischer and Mike Parnell got in a fight in the second period which gave the fans plenty to cheer about. At the end of two periods the score remained 2-2. The final frame both teams had their chances but could not capitalize. The game went to overtime when Brandon Wahlin was set up by John Simonson. The Bruins win their second straight game 3-2. The Bruins will continue the series tomorrow night at the Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen South Dakota.
