Misiak, Kothenbeutel, Richards Named to Top Prospects Tournament

AUSTIN, MN – The Bruins will send three forwards as their representatives to this year’s NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Plymouth, MI on February 27th and 28th. Justin Misiak will be making his second consecutive appearance, while Travis Kothenbeutel and Jon Richards will each be going for the first time – all joining the Central Division Team.

Misiak (’96), a native of St. Clair Shores, MI, leads the Bruins in points with 46 – the 2nd highest total in the NAHL. He’s got 19 goals and 27 assists, leading the squad in both categories. He registered his first NAHL hat trick this past Friday on Paint the Rink Pink night. The speedy forward joined Jade Miller, Kris Carlson, and Paul O’Connor at last season’s event.

Kothenbeutel (’97), has had a breakout season in his second full campaign as a Bruin. The B’s captain has racked up 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists) and leads the Bruins in game winning goals with five. He’s also led both special teams units, topping the team chart in power play goals (6) and shorthanded tallies (3). Kothenbeutel is from Sauk Rapids, MN.

Richards (’97), is third on the team in goals (14) and fourth in points (28), leading all Bruins rookies in both categories. The Callaway, MN native has found great chemistry with Misiak and Cole Lawrence to create one of the more dangerous lines in the NAHL. Richards played 6 games as an affiliate player last season, and had three assists. His first NAHL goal came at the Blaine Showcase on September 23rd of this season against Johnstown.

The coach of the Central Division will be Minot’s Marty Murray, with Tim Madsen of the Minnesota Wilderness serving as Assistant Coach. The Central Division takes on the Midwest at 1:00 PM EST (12:00 CT) on Monday, Feb. 27th and then plays the South at 2:00 EST (1:00 CT) on Tuesday, Feb. 28th. Bruins play-by-play broadcaster Michael Keeley will be covering the Tournament for HockeyTV, alongside Corpus Christi IceRays voice Collin Schuck.
