Nov 7, 2015

LA CROSSE, WI –

The Bruins used a pair of power play goals and a perfect penalty kill to defeat the Coulee Region Chill on Saturday night at Green Island Ice Arena and split the weekend series.

Jacob Paganelli scored a power play goal on the Bruins' first shot of the game at 2:30 of the opening period. Marcus Karlstrom and Jade Miller set it up. Coulee's Aussie Miller tied the game just over four minutes later and it was a 1-1 score after 20 minutes.

The Bruins used the man-advantage to their benefit again in the 2nd period when Dawson DiPietro, who played 41 games with Coulee Region last season, finished off a tic-tac-toe passing play from Jan Stefka and Paganelli. Austin led 2-1 into the 3rd.

Along with a perfect 5 for 5 on the penalty kill, the Bruins sealed the game with an empty netter in the final minute as Travis Kothenbeutel tapped in a pass from Evan Cholak. Justin Misiak also got an assist. Kris Carlson bounced back from a rough Friday by stopping 28 of 29 shots for his 8th win.

The Bruins improved to 10-8-1 up to 21 points, keeping pace with the victorious first place Minot Minotauros. They are next in action Friday night in Bismarck at 7:15.
