Six different goal scorers lead Bruins over Brookings

AUSTIN, MN – Six different Bruins scored goals, while Kris Carlson turned away 26 shots, and the Bruins snapped their four game losing streak with a 6-1 win on home ice against the Brookings Blizzard. The Bruins improved to 5-1-0 against Brookings on the season and 3-0-0 at home.

Griff Slightam had the only goal of the first period at 12:48 – his first since October 24th. His shot from the center point position deflected off a Blizzard player and past Brookings netminder Josh Kuehmichel. Gilbert Gabor and Miha Zajc assisted. The Bruins led 1-0 after one period.

The Bruins used the powerplay to extend the lead to 2-0 at 4:46 of the 2nd when Jacob Paganelli fed a back-door pass through the slot to Jade Miller for his team leading 21st goal of the season. Under five minutes later, Zach Kennedy made it 3-0, ripped a wrist shot off the post and in from a few strides inside the blue line. The Blizzard called timeout and got on the board shortly after when Chase Gamelin put a shot over Carlson's shoulder, cutting the deficit to 3-1 at the end of two periods.

Early in the 3rd, Dalton Gally scored for the first time since the home opener (also against Brookings), when he took a Travis Kothenbeutel pass and slid it past Kuehmichel at 1:05. Evan Cholak and Jacob Paganelli (power play) added on to cap off the 6-1 win.Gilbert Gabor finished with four assists on the night.

Saturday night is "Paint the Rink Pink" at Riverside against the Coulee Region Chill. Gates will open at 5:00 for the 7:05 faceoff and the game will be broadcast on FASTHockey.com (video and audio), AM 1480 KAUS (audio only), and myaustinminnesota.com (audio only) starting at 6:55.
