Feb 14, 2016

LA CROSSE, WI – Nico Luka scored just 36 seconds into overtime as the Coulee Region Chill became the first team to win a home game in the 2015-16 head to head between the Chill and the Austin Bruins. The Bruins came up winless on the weekend but gained two points with the pair of OT losses.

The Chill dominated the first period, outshooting Austin 10-1 and getting the only goal at 3:38 when Larry Jungwirth flipped a rebound up top over Kris Carlson. The Bruins turned things around in the 2nd, with a 10-2 shot edge and the tying goal from Jan Stefka at 14:42, who broke a 13 game goal-less drought, set up by Travis Kothenbeutel and Gilbert Gabor.

At 7:50 of the third, the Bruins took their first lead when Jade Miller extended his goal streak to five games, taking a pass from Marcus Karlstrom. Gabor added another assist for his fourth consecutive multi point game. Just under three minutes later, the Chill got even when Jungwirth went hard to the goal and Justin Kendall shoved the rebound under Carlson's glove.

The overtime didn't last long as Shane Kuzmeski broke out on a 2-on-1 with Luka, who deposited the pass behind Carlson just 36 seconds into the extra session. The Chill moved to 7-0 in games going beyond regulation. Carlson made 27 saves in the loss while Matiss Kivlenieks stopped 14 Bruins shots for his fifth win against the Bruins.

Austin travels to Aberdeen for a pair against the Wings at Odde Ice Center at 7:15 on Friday and Saturday night as the Bruins enter the final quarter of their season.
