Military Jersey Auction Raises Nearly $16,000

AUSTIN, MN – The Austin Bruins Foundation raised nearly $16,000 in Saturday’s post-game live jersey auction following their Military Appreciation Game presented by ABC6 News.

In front of a crowd of 1,387, including many former and active military members (who received free admission), the Bruins defeated the Coulee Region Chill, 3-2 in a shootout. Toys for Tots Mower-Freeborn collected toy donations, and coordinator, Corporal Tim Staver dropped the ceremonial puck. Members of VFW Post 1216 presented the colors, while Austin High School Senior Megan Maxa performed the National Anthem on trumpet. Southland High Senior Morgan Brown presented information on Run2Repair, a project that raises funds and awareness for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. The auction took place after the game, with winning goaltender Mads Sogaard’s jersey going for the highest amount at $1500.
