BLAINE, MN – A pair of third period goals by John Wojciechowski and Jon Richards led a Bruins rally over the Johnstown Tomahawks on Friday morning at the NAHL Showcase at the Schwan Super Rink. The Bruins improved to 2-1-0 on the season with the win.

The Tomahawks struck first when Donovan Ott ripped a shot past Alex Schilling at 9:18 of the opening period. The Bruins were outshot 16-5 in the first.

The 2nd period was a much better one for Austin and then got even with a power play goal from Justin Misiak at 13:51. Assists went to AJ Drobot and Jan Stefka. While on a late period penalty kill, Travis Kothenbeutel went off for hooking, giving Johnstown a 5 on 3 in which they regained the lead. Adam Pilewicz’s one time shot was only 12 seconds remaining in the period made it 2-1 Johnstown heading to the third.

At 6:36 of the final frame, the Bruins pulled even again when John Wojciechowski camped on the doorstep of the Tomahawk’s crease and deflected home a shot from Cooper Sande. Just over four minutes later, Jon Richards buried a Jaden Shields rebound for a 3-2 Bruins lead. Johnstown pulled their goaltender with 1:15 to go but never mounted a real threat. Schilling made 26 saves for his first NAHL win while Johnstown’s Vinny Purpura stopped 16 of 19 in the loss.
