Nov 14, 2015

BISMARCK, ND – Jan Stefka, Austin Rueschhoff, and Gilbert Gabor all scored goals, while Kris Carlson stopped 33 of 35 Bobcat shots and the Bruins split the weekend series in Bismarck with a 3-2 victory at VFW Sports Center.

The Bruins scored the first goal for the 6th time in 7 games as Stefka tapped in a Rueschhoff pass at 2:50 of the first period. Similarly to Friday, the Bobcats were quick to respond as Jared Pike netted a bizarre goal at 4:22. Pike took a shot that deflected off the blocker of Carlson, off the back boards, and then off of Carlson's back and into the net. Garrett Nelson was credit with an assist. Bismarck would take a 2-1 advantage at 11:21 when Willie Brown ripped a wrist shot over Carlson's glove off a pass from Jared Resseguie. The Bruins got a late two-man advantage and evened the score on the 2nd powerplay when Austin Rueschhoff put a shot off the post and in, from Justin Misiak and Paul O'Connor. The score was tied at two after one period.

Neither team scored in the 2nd, but Carlson turned away 16 shots as the Bruins killed off five penalties to keep the game tied. Early in the 3rd, Gilbert Gabor scored his 2nd goal in as many games after Dawson DiPietro stole the puck behind the Bobcats net and set him up. Carlson made 33 saves to earn his 9th win while the Bruins penalty kill finished a perfect 6 for 6 on the night. David Fessenden fell to 0-3-0, making 21 saves in the loss for the Bobcats.

Both teams play next at Riverside Arena on Friday and Saturday night at 7:05, the start of 6 of 7 at home for Austin. Tickets for next weekend's game are on sale now at the Austin HyVee, Jim's Marketplace, The Holiday Inn, and Games People Play.
