Gabor extends point streak, but Bruins fall to Blizzard

BROOKINGS, SD – The Blizzard scored twice in each period while Josh Kuehmichel stopped 40 of 41 Bruins shots as Brookings topped Austin, 6-1 on Saturday night at Larson Ice Center. The win for Brookings snapped a five game losing streak and was their first win against the Bruins this season.

Parker Revering and Griff Jeszka each scored powerplay goals just over 4 minutes apart in the first half of the first period, giving the Blizzard a 2-0 lead at the end of one. Justin Brandt scored his first NAHL at 4:34 of the 2nd to extend the lead to 3-0. At 10:13, the Bruins got on the board, when Gilbert Gabor notched a powerplay goal, extending his point streak to six games. Austin Rueschhoff and Jade Miller assisted. Before the period ended, Zach Mitchell made it 4-1, ending the night for Bruins starting goaltender Robbie Goor.

Kris Carlson allowed goals to Mitchell and Martan Yelle in the 3rd period while Kuehmichel was stellar, keeping the Bruins at just one goal. Jeszka finished the night with four points. The Bruins are now part of a three way tie for first place in the Central Division, alongside Bismarck and Minot. They'll host the Minnesota Magicians on Friday at 7:05 in the front end of a home-and-home.
