Finger Leads Bruins to Victory

The Austin Bruins were back at Riverside Arena against the Alexandria Blizzard on The Second Annual Pink Night. The Austin Bruins and The Hormel Institute painted the Rink Pink in the fight against breast cancer.  All of the auction profits were donated to The Hormel Institute's world-renowned breast cancer research. The opening period Austin got off to a quick start as Jeremy Finger was set up by Austin Nelson. The Blizzard tied the game with an opportunity on a rush making it a 1-1 score. John Kirby put the Bruins ahead and scored his team leading 15th goal.  Assists went to Brandon Wahlin and John Simonson. The Blizzard tied the game 2-2 at the end of the second frame. At the first intermission the Bruins had outshot the Blizzard 15-12. The second frame the Bruins regained the lead on the power play with a Jon Gehrt goal, the assist went to CJ Smith. At the end of the second period Colton Kramer was hit after the whistle by Aidan Cavallini. Mike Bond came to the defense of his teammate and received a five minute major for fighting. At the end of two periods of play the Bruins led 3-2. The second frame started like the first period. Jeremy Finger scored his second goal of the night assisting was Matt Hansen. The Bruins made it 5-2 when Connor Quinn set up Matt Hansen. Aiden Cvallini was able to answer back for the Blizzard to make it 5-3. Colton Kramer put the icing on the cake with an empty net goal, assisting was Brandon Wahlin. The Bruins skated to a 6-3 victory at Riverside Arena. The Bruins will kick off a set in Aberdeen South Dakota to battle the Aberdeen Wings next week.
